Set yerself down in a floating log and drift on into the world of Brer Rabbit and friends from Song of the South. Take a lazy tour through their mishaps and enjoy some good ol’ southern singin’ from some real talented animals as you make your way around, through, and eventually up Splash Mountain. Hang on tight – what goes up must come down!
Splash Mountain is a water ride that is great for anyone taller than 40” and older than 3 years. Based on animation and characters from Song of the South, Splash Mountain features animatronic characters such as Brer Rabbit, Brer Bear, and Brer Fox. You begin your ride by stepping into a hollowed out log that holds 7 passengers – as you settle yourself in you’ll notice there are no restraints in this ride, but there are handle bars on either side for you to grip. Your log is propelled forward and you float off into through backwoods swamps and bayous. Brer Rabbit has decided to leave home, exposing himself to possible peril as Brer Fox tries to capture him with the help of the somewhat simple Brer Bear. You are witness to the unfolding scenes, some taken straight from Song of the South.
There are 103 animatronic characters in all, some singing songs from the movie, some dancing, some playing instruments, and some just hanging around. There are a couple of short waterfalls to ride down, as well assome black-light scenes to enjoy as your log makes its way through the mountain. Brer Fox’s thwarted attempts to get Brer Rabbit get him more and more riled up, until you reach the bottom of a steep climb. As your log is pulled up the sharp incline, you see that the fox has finally caught his prey, and you hear Brer Rabbit begging not be thrown into the briar patch. You reach the top of your ascent, and your log hangs for just a moment before tipping downward and shooting down a 5 story drop into a briar surrounded pond. (Partway down the flume your picture is taken, so smile pretty through your scream!) There is one final scene awaiting you before your log pulls up to the loading dock once again and you disembark. Don’t forget to check for your picture on the way out!
