Buckle up and grab onto the rail as you jet off on a thrilling space journey! The Disneyland space shuttles that are prepped for take off into the darkest regions of outer space in a fast paced roller coaster ride that will have you screaming with excitement as you rise and drop at top speed leaving you nearly weightless.
Space Mountain is a 5-minute dark roller coaster. After making your way down into the space station, you are loaded into a rocket that has three rows of two seats. Each space vehicle consists of two rockets, for a total of six rows per ship. Once in you seat you will pull a bar down over your lap to keep you in place during your “flight.” A pouch is provided for smaller items such as cameras, hats, and glasses. Once you and your items are safely secured, your rocket pulls forward and stops for just a moment in front of the control center. Then you move once again and the ride has begun.
Your ship pulls around the corner and makes an ascent through a tube-like area where various lights flash and run. Once you reach the top you come out into space, where it is pitch dark except for the stars, asteroids, and comets surrounding you. Heavenly bodies spin and shoot through the sky as you race around the unseen track before you. Near the end of the ride a picture is snapped of your rocket. When the ride is complete, your rockets coasts back into the space station and stops at the loading dock where you climb out and head out and up some stairs back to the outside world. On your way, be sure to stop to check out the pictures, which are displayed on screens as you exit.
